Aviation Capital Group (ACG), a US-based aircraft asset manager, has signed a firm order for 75 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, Airbus said in a press release dated October 15.
The order takes ACG’s total historical orders for the type to 190 aircraft, according to Airbus. ACG is headquartered in Newport Beach, California, and describes itself as a global full-service aircraft asset manager.
ACG chief executive and president Thomas Baker said the company’s portfolio strategy focuses on new-technology narrowbody aircraft that airlines worldwide want most. He said the order, the largest in ACG’s nearly 40-year history, is “a statement of confidence in the long-term future of air travel”. He added that it reflects ACG’s role as a link between airlines, aircraft and capital.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus’s Executive Vice President of Sales for its Commercial Aircraft business, said the order reinforces a partnership that dates to 2007, when ACG placed its first order with Airbus. He said ACG will be able to offer customers the A320neo Family well into the next decade. He also called the family “the world’s most modern and efficient single-aisle aircraft”.
Airbus said the A320 Family is the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft, with more than 20,400 orders globally. The family includes the A320neo and A321neo. Airbus said it offers at least 20 percent fuel savings and lower CO₂ emissions than previous-generation single-aisle aircraft and one of the widest single-aisle cabins in the sky. These are the manufacturer’s claims.
The release did not say how the 75 aircraft are split between the A320neo and A321neo or give a delivery schedule, the order’s value, or the airlines that will operate them.
