Bhutan’s foreign minister arrives Dhaka, attends Khaleda Zia’s funeral

Bhutan’s
Foreign Minister Lyonpo D N Dhungel arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday morning to attend
funeral of Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
As
the official representative of the Royal Government of Bhutan, he attended Khaleda
Zia’s funeral.
He
landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via a special flight. Airport
Executive Director SM Samad confirmed his arrival and said the minister was
received by Bhutan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh and senior officials from
Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Funeral
for Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled for 2:00 PM at Dhaka’s Manik Mia Avenue. The
Bhutanese Foreign Minister will lay a floral wreath and offer prayers there.
Presence
of this high-level delegation highlights mutual respect and longstanding
diplomatic relations between the two neighbouring countries. Khaleda Zia’s
passing has drawn condolences from numerous global leaders.
