Biman Bangladesh Airlines (Biman) cancelled 27 flights this morning due to security risks arising from Iran-Israel conflict, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Regional airspace and security situation remains unstable, making scheduled flight operations impossible. Although some routes have resumed limited service, uncertainty persists over Middle East-bound journeys.

Biman had temporarily suspended all Dhaka to Middle East flights on Saturday following escalation of Iran-Israel hostilities. Move affected hundreds of passengers who arrived at airport only to face cancellations.

Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment arranged overnight accommodation for approximately 800 stranded passengers. Government initiative provided some relief to distressed travellers awaiting flight updates.

Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) advised passengers to contact respective airlines and confirm latest flight status before heading to airport. Authority emphasised importance of verification amid fluid situation.

Officials confirmed flight operations will remain uncertain until Middle East airspace becomes completely safe and normal. Regional conflict has disrupted air traffic across multiple routes, forcing airlines to reassess safety protocols.

Biman operates several Middle East destinations including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. Routes serve significant portion of Bangladesh's migrant worker population and business travellers.

Passengers expressed frustration over sudden cancellations and lack of advance notice. Many had planned urgent travel for employment, family emergencies and business commitments.
