A fire broke out on a Saint Martin-bound passenger vessel near the Nunia Chora BIWTA jetty on the Bakkhali River in Cox’s Bazar.

The vessel has been identified as ‘The Atlantic Cruise.’

The incident occurred at around 6:30 am on Saturday (December 27). No casualties have been reported so far.

Confirming the incident, Executive Magistrate and Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tanzila Tasnim said firefighting operations are ongoing and the vessel has been completely damaged. However, she added that there were no tourists or passengers on board at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities are investigating the incident.
