Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is scheduled to leave for London tomorrow morning
on a Qatar government-provided air ambulance for advanced medical treatment.
Former prime minister will be accompanied by 14 people, including six doctors and two Special Security Force members, according to her adviser Enamul Haque Chowdhury, who informed Jamuna Television. Air ambulance will arrive in Dhaka early tomorrow from Qatar, with departure planned approximately two hours later.
Khaleda Zia will be taken to the same London clinic
where she previously received treatment. One doctor from London is already in
Bangladesh providing advice for this transfer. Qatari government has approved
the same air ambulance that previously facilitated her travel to London and
return.
Once the aircraft arrives at Hazrat Shahjalal
International Airport, the chairperson will be transported to it, possibly via
helicopter from Evercare Hospital. However, BNP has not formally announced the
official mode of transport yet.
Delegation includes her daughter-in-law Syeda Shamila
Rahman, personal doctors Dr Abu Jafar Mohammad Zayed Hossain, Dr Fakruddin
Mohammad Siddiqi, Dr Shahabuddin Talukdar, Dr Nuruddin Ahmed, Dr Jafar Iqbal,
and Dr Mohammad Al Mamun, as well as her adviser Dr Enamul Haque Chowdhury. Two
SSF members and her assistants Abdul Hai Mallick and Masudur Rahman, along with
two attendants Fatema Begum and Rupa Sikder, will also accompany her.
Decision to transfer her abroad was made after
assessing her current health condition at Evercare Hospital. She has been
admitted there since November 23 and in the ICU since November 27. Her medical
team has been evaluating whether she can endure a long journey.
Meeting of her medical board, which includes local and
international specialists from the UK, USA, and China, has determined that she
is fit for the air ambulance transfer. These experts include Prof Dr
Shahabuddin Talukdar, Prof Dr Nuruddin Ahmed, Prof Dr FM Siddiqi, Prof Dr AKM
Mohsin, Prof Dr Shamsul Arifin, Prof Dr Ziaul Haq, Prof Dr Jafar Iqbal, Prof Dr
Abu Jafar Mohammad Saleh, Prof Brig Mohammad Saiful Islam, and foreign
consultants including Prof Dr Richard Beldon, Prof Dr Shakil Farid, Prof Dr
Goll Stone, Prof Patrick Ken, Prof Jennifer Cross, Prof Dr Haibur Rahman Lulu,
Prof Dr Rafiquddin Ahmed, Prof Dr John Hamilton, Prof Dr Hamid, and Prof Christ
Georgia Addis, along with specialists from Kunming University Hospital (China)
and Beijing National Heart Institute.
Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a note
verbale to Qatar following a request from BNP, and Qatar has agreed to provide
full cooperation for the transfer, as they did previously. BNP leadership has
ensured that all necessary visas and documentation are in place.
Security and logistics have also been arranged, with
the Special Security Force managing the area to allow a safe transfer without
disruption from supporters. Medical board will accompany her on the flight to
provide continuous care, ensuring that the journey is safe.
BNP and her family have requested the prayers and
support of the nation for her safe journey and recovery.
