12 Biman crew returned after Doha limbo

12 crew members of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (Biman) who were stranded in Doha due to ongoing Middle East conflict returned home safely.

They reached on Tuesday night via Muscat.

Crew departed for Qatar on February 27 but their scheduled flight was cancelled after US-Iran war escalated, forcing them to remain in Doha for nearly 12 days. They stayed at a hotel in Qatar throughout the ordeal.

Upon landing in Dhaka, relieved crew members expressed gratitude for safe return. Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials and Cabin Crew Union members welcomed them at airport.

Pilots and crew said they witnessed some conflict-related incidents from their hotel windows, experiencing situations they had only heard about previously. Captain Asif Mahmud confirmed that Biman authorities provided full cooperation in bringing crew home.

Biman official explained that crew members stranded in Dammam were first taken to Riyadh before being brought to Dhaka on Riyadh-Dhaka flight. Crew members stuck in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi were also repatriated during the same period.

Family members of stranded crew spent days in anxiety and fear while their loved ones remained stuck abroad. Middle East tensions had forced multiple airlines to cancel or reroute flights, affecting thousands of passengers and aviation staff across the region.

Biman authorities coordinated with various airports and diplomatic channels to ensure safe evacuation of their employees. All crew members reportedly arrived in good health despite the stressful circumstances.
