24 flights cancelled today from Dhaka airport

24 flights were cancelled from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (Dhaka airport) on March 11 as Middle Eastern countries continue airspace closure due to ongoing security crisis.

Kuwait Airways cancelled two flights while Air Arabia operating from Sharjah, Emirates, Jazirah Airways from Kuwait and flydubai each cancelled four flights. Gulf Air from Bahrain cancelled two flights along with 4 from Qatar Airways.

Cancellations follow continued airspace closure by Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan since February 28. 7 countries shut their airspace citing deteriorating security conditions in the region.

Crisis has disrupted 391 flights from Dhaka over past 12 days, severely impacting thousands of Bangladeshi passengers. Affected routes serve Gulf countries where over 40 lakh Bangladeshi expatriates work and send remittances exceeding USD 2 thousand 400 crore monthly.

Daily cancellations peaked at 46 on March 2 before stabilizing between 24 and 40 flights. Initial day saw 23 cancellations on February 28, followed by 40 on March 1. Subsequent days recorded 39 cancellations on March 3, 28 on March 4, 36 on March 5, 34 on March 6, 28 on both March 7-8, 33 on March 9 and 32 on March 10.

Airlines have provided no timeline for resuming normal operations, leaving passengers uncertain about travel arrangements.
