Sept 28 - Air India and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) have launched an integrated online duty-free shopping platform for international travellers, the airline said in a press release.

Air India has built the digital storefront into its website and mobile app. Passengers departing from or arriving at select Indian airports can browse, pre-order, and pay for duty-free items before travel, then collect the packaged purchases at designated duty-free counters at the airport.

Air India described itself as India's leading global airline and AAHL as the country's largest private airport operator.

The service is available for travel to and from Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram. Customers on codeshare itineraries, including flights operated by Air India Express, are also eligible.

The airline said the service will be extended to more domestic and international airports in later phases, but it gave no timeline or list of airports.

The online catalogue covers cosmetics and fragrances, chocolates and confectionery, consumer electronics, and spirits.

As an introductory offer, Air India is offering discounts of up to 25 percent on standard retail shelf prices. The airline said bank offers and seasonal privileges can be combined with the discount. It did not say how long the introductory offer will run.

Members of Air India's Maharaja Club loyalty programme will automatically earn 3 Maharaja Points for every INR 100 spent on eligible duty-free purchases.

According to Air India, the partnership combines its digital customer platforms with Adani Airports' retail expertise, covering trip planning, pre-ordering, airport collection, and loyalty rewards.
