Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport has received a World Travel Award at the 2026 regional ceremony, the hotel said in a press release.
The award was presented on Sept 27 at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony in the Maldives, the Indian Ocean island nation. The event brought together companies and organisations from the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries in the three regions.
The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 and recognises businesses and destinations across the global tourism and hospitality sectors. Regional winners advance through the organisation's annual awards programme towards the Grand Final, according to the release.
Ashwani Nayar, cluster general manager of InterContinental Dhaka and Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport, said the recognition was significant not only for the hotel but also for Bangladesh's representation in the international hospitality industry.
He said the award offers an opportunity to draw more attention to Bangladesh's tourism potential and to the standards being developed in its hospitality sector.
The hotel is near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka's main international gateway, and serves business and leisure travellers as well as airport passengers and visitors. It is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, formerly InterContinental Hotels Group, and offers accommodation, dining, and meeting and event facilities.
The hotel said the award would support its focus on international hospitality standards and its role in Bangladesh's tourism and business travel market.
