Public Interest Foundation International Manpower Development Organization, or IM Japan, has promised to hire more Bangladeshi workers starting in 2026, BSS reports.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Dr. Neyamat Ullah Bhuiyan met with the CEO of IM Japan and visited the company's Tokyo headquarters while on a November 3–8, 2025, tour of Japan.
The senior secretary received assurances from the CEO of IM Japan during the meeting that the company would increase the number of workers it received from Bangladesh starting in 2026 and hire at least 300 Bangladeshi workers in that year.
Afterwards, Dr. Bhuiyan went to a Japanese company that manufactures industrial goods and employs Bangladeshis.
During the visit, the Japanese company also pledged to hire more Bangladeshis next year to make the senior secretary's visit memorable, according to BSS report.
Dr. Bhuiyan also met with Mikio Kesagayama, the chairman of Japan's National Business Support Combined Cooperatives (NBCC), as well as a few key representatives from Japanese investment and recruitment organizations.
They pledged to take action to improve Bangladesh's human capital for hiring in Japanese businesses and to explore possible areas of cooperation between Japan and Bangladesh in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
In order to solve Japan's labor shortage, especially in industries like construction, caregiving, and agriculture, Mikio Kesagayama has been actively involved in efforts to hire qualified workers from Bangladesh.
In order to facilitate this recruitment process, he previously led a 23-person NBCC delegation to Bangladesh on October 27, 2025, to evaluate training facilities and meet with government representatives, including Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
Under his leadership, the NBCC intends to bring over 100,000 Bangladeshi laborers to Japan over a five-year period.
