Tourism Seychelles has announced the return of Seychelles Nature Trail for its third edition, scheduled for May 16 next year on Mahé island, following successful previous editions that attracted runners from across Asia, Africa and Europe.

Event has rapidly established itself as a major highlight on Seychelles' sporting and experiential tourism calendar. Race offers participants a challenging 22-kilometre course featuring 1,210-metre elevation gain across some of Mahé's most striking natural landscapes.

Runners will start from Port Glaud, navigating a spectacular route through Cap Ternay, Anse Major, Mare aux Cochons, Cassedent and Tomassin before reaching the finish line at Grand Anse. Course blends coastline, forest and mountain terrain, creating a technically demanding experience suited to various skill levels.

Bernadette Honoré, Senior Marketing Executive for Réunion and Indian Ocean Market at Tourism Seychelles, explained that the event aims to attract international, regional and local trail runners while inspiring Seychellois athletes to embrace the sport.

"Seychelles Nature Trail is a powerful showcase of our islands' granitic attributes and a key driver in positioning Seychelles as a premier nature and sport tourism destination. This edition once again features one of our most diverse routes, combining athletic intensity with amazing picture-perfect scenery," Honoré said.

Second edition held in August 2025 demonstrated significant international appeal, with nearly one-third of participants coming from countries across Asia, Africa and Europe. International partners have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, strengthening the event's reputation on the global trail-running circuit.

Race continues to champion sports tourism while celebrating Seychelles' unmatched biodiversity. Event offers runners an immersive journey through several of the archipelago's natural parks, showcasing the island nation's environmental treasures.

Tourism Seychelles is launching early registration to accommodate growing international interest. Early call for participation gives runners from around the world ample time to plan travel arrangements and secure their places in the competition.

Previous editions have successfully combined athletic challenge with scenic beauty, creating a unique experience that highlights Seychelles' potential as a sports tourism destination. Event organizers expect increased participation from Bangladeshi and South Asian runners given the growing popularity of trail running in the region.

Race format remains consistent with previous years, maintaining the high-energy 22-kilometre distance that has become the event's signature. Challenging elevation gain and diverse terrain continue to attract serious trail runners seeking both competitive experience and natural beauty.

Tourism authorities emphasize that Seychelles Nature Trail serves dual purposes: promoting physical fitness and adventure sports while showcasing the country's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development.
