SRC celebrates excellence and dedication of long-serving employees
The Seychelles Revenue Commission (SRC) last Friday, 12 December 2025, honored 26 staff members for their unwavering support and commitment during its long service awards 2025, held at the Ochan Restaurant in Eden Island.
Along with the long service recipients, SRC executives and board members attended the prestigious event, which was also attended by Pierre Laporte, Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade, and Investment.
The evening, held in celebration of SRC’s anniversary, recognized employees who have attained a remarkable 15–35 years of service with the commission, equally in the public sector and employees who will soon be retiring from their profession.
The event also served in remembrance of the departed colleagues of the SRC who would have celebrated their work anniversaries this year.
The pivotal moment of the evening was the presentation of the long service award to Fernando Lafortune for marking 39 years of service to the SRC and the public sector, who will now be proceeding forward with his retirement.
Addressing the awardees, the Commissioner General of SRC, Varsha Singh, said, “As we celebrate today, let us remember that SRC’s strength lies not only in its structures, reforms, and digital ambitions, but in the people who give them life".
She said each milestone we mark is a testament to the values of service, integrity, and perseverance that continue to guide us.
“It is you, the people of SRC, that we celebrate tonight," Singh added.
Delivering his keynote address to the awardees, the Minister for Finance, Economic Planning, Trade, and Investment echoed, “The mandate of the SRC is closely tied to the drivers of economic growth, such as tourism, fisheries, and trade, to name a few."
“Today, we recognize the immense work that goes on behind the scenes at the Commission: servicing and educating our taxpayers/traders, enforcing laws and regulations, maintaining trade flows, collecting and assessing revenue, and safeguarding our borders against illicit practices.
“It is only fitting that today we pause to provide due recognition to this special group of employees.”
In closing, the Deputy Commissioner General of SRC also expressed a special appreciation to the awardees for remaining as the backbone of this institution and for their hard work, resilience, and loyalty in inspiring the next generation of professionals.
The long service award ceremony ended with a celebratory cocktail in recognition of the awardees for reaching important service milestones at the Commission.
