Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Bangladesh expressed interest in launching operations for the kingdom’s second national carrier, Riyadh Air, in Bangladesh during talks with senior government officials on Sunday.

Ambassador Dr. Abdullah Zafer H. Bin Abiyah made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, Afroza Khanam, and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Milat, according to a ministry statement.

The minister stressed the need to further improve the service standards of Saudi Airlines for Bangladeshi passengers, while the ambassador assured that efforts would be made to enhance service quality.

Discussions focused on the potential establishment of a station and the launch of regular flights by Riyadh Air, a move considered likely to strengthen air connectivity between the two countries.

Two parties also highlighted opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in the tourism sector, with both sides expressing optimism about expanding joint initiatives.

The Bangladeshi side encouraged the Saudi carrier to consider operating flights not only from Dhaka but also Sylhet and Chattogram, aiming to enhance regional connectivity.
