Bangladesh, Türkiye eye cooperation in airport ground handling services

Representatives of
Turkish aviation company Çelebi
Aviation today paid a courtesy call on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister
Afroza Khanam and State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat at the Ministry of
Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to a press
release, the meeting, held at around 12:30 pm, was also attended by Türkiye Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Şen and the ministry’s Secretary Fahmida Akhter,
NDC.
During the meeting, the
representatives of Çelebi
Aviation expressed interest in participating in ground handling operations in
Bangladesh to help improve airport service quality.
In response, the
minister and state minister said the company would be given priority
consideration in the appointment process for ground handling operators.
Minister Afroza Khanam
stressed the need to internationalise Cox's Bazar Airport to strengthen the
country’s tourism sector and highlighted the potential for cooperation with the
Turkish company in ground handling services at the airport.
State Minister
Rashiduzzaman Millat also invited the company to submit a concept paper aimed
at improving passenger service standards.
The meeting expressed
optimism over future collaboration between Bangladesh and Türkiye under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives
for the development of Bangladesh’s tourism sector.
