Qatar Airways will begin flights to Venezuela and Colombia from July 22, becoming the first Gulf carrier to serve Venezuela and the first airline to operate routes from the Middle East to the capitals of both countries, the airline said on Monday.

The Doha-based carrier said it would launch twice-weekly services linking Doha with Bogotá and Caracas, marking a further expansion of its network in the Americas as global airlines seek to strengthen connectivity between the Middle East and Latin America. The new routes will operate every Wednesday and Sunday.

Under the announced schedule, flights will depart Doha for Bogotá before continuing onward to Caracas, with return services operating nonstop from the Venezuelan capital to Doha. Qatar Airways said the timetable was designed to improve connections through Doha’s Hamad International Airport to destinations in Asia, the Middle East, and Australia, including China, Japan, South Korea, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia.

The addition of Bogotá and Caracas will expand Qatar Airways’ footprint in the Americas to 16 destinations, the airline said. Qatar Airways first entered the South American market in 2010 with flights to São Paulo, Brazil, and has since steadily expanded regional connectivity.

The launch also revives plans first announced in 2025, when the airline initially targeted an earlier start date for the service. Aviation analysts say the routes could strengthen travel links between South America and Asia via Doha, offering an alternative to connections through Europe or North America.

For passengers, the new flights are expected to provide additional travel options between Latin America and markets across Asia and the Gulf, while potentially boosting tourism, trade, and business travel between the regions. Qatar Airways said bookings are now open through its website and mobile application as it expands to more than 160 global destinations during the northern summer season.
