The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has unveiled its Air Transport Professional Training Programme, a specialised online course designed to build expertise in international air transport regulation and economics for aviation professionals worldwide.
According to the ICAO website, the programme, conducted entirely in English and delivered online, consists of three integrated courses: Air Transport Regulation, Air Transport Regulation Issues, and Air Transport Economics. Participants will become acquainted with extensive regulatory frameworks, key industry challenges such as competition and passenger rights, and fundamental economic principles shaping global aviation.
Aimed primarily at professionals engaged in air transport regulation, policymaking, airline and airport governance, and civil aviation authorities, the training equips learners to interpret and apply international regulatory standards at national, bilateral, and multilateral levels. It also benefits early-career professionals and those seeking a solid foundation in air transport policy and economics.
The course is self-paced and is recommended for completion within nine months. It helps ICAO's overall goal of ensuring that international standards are followed and strengthening the skills of people in aviation as the air transport industry changes quickly.
Participants who complete the program will be better positioned to address regulatory and economic challenges, contribute to policy development, and support sustainable growth in the global aviation sector.
