Nearly 3 lakh Bangladeshi expatriates living in Italy are facing severe travel disruptions as multiple airlines cancelled flights to Bangladesh amid Middle Eastern conflicts, leaving thousands unable to return home for Eid-ul-Fitr.
Large number of expatriates, particularly women, had completed all preparations to travel home for Eid holidays. However, unstable situation in Middle East forced several major airlines to suspend operations, creating widespread anxiety among travellers.
Many families had already purchased tickets for Eid journey when conflict escalated. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad and Saudi Airlines are among carriers that cancelled flights, significantly reducing travel options between Italy and Bangladesh.
Flight cancellations have drastically decreased traffic on Italy-Bangladesh routes. Some airlines have resumed limited operations, but thousands remain stranded at major Italian airports including Venice, Rome, Milan and Naples. Various airlines operating between Italy and Bangladesh remain suspended, while few companies started limited services. Stranded passengers expressed hope that Middle Eastern conflict will resolve quickly, allowing them to reunite with families for Eid celebrations.
